Who am I?

When it comes to introduce myself to others, especially to such untargeted group as random internet users, I usually find this tiny problem: which side or perspective should that presentation begin from?

Above you already have some basic facts about me. It might be good but also not satisfactory enough start... so, let’s just begin about anywhere again:

I’m a young man still searching his own, satisfactory place on the planet Earth, enjoying experiencing different surroundings, people, cultures and even probably not being able to stay in one spot for too long... not to fill imprisoned.

I might have caught this virus of freedom and desire for scattered fulfillments when I was a child already... My parents took me along to New Zealand, where between 1982-84 I had experienced my early stage of childhood to be back again in Poland where I was born.
I have never cured myself from the wish to come back there (New Zealand – my Ithaca) one day again to taste the leftovers of my memories confronting the reality... This subconscious will drives me constantly further and closer from home

My home:

But, where is my home?

It is certainly a city of Lodz, in the middle of Poland where I was born and spend most of my life. Place where I have experienced many things for the first time, which I know well and wouldn’t get lost in. Coming back there from Brussels where I live now, despite the fact that it happens only few times a year – always feels like coming back home... and I don’t think there is anything that might change that feeling

Childhood:

Childhood at Bendarska Street and primary school no. 113. Beautiful and sunny memories of football games until sunset in front of block of flats where I used to live and hot recollections of many July and Augusts with a pack of friends at Zielona Góra near Justynów – where my parents still have their summer house

Youth:

Youth rebellious sometimes, very calm and wise at others I connect mostly with new house at Szkolna Street and my VI Liceum high school... Great adventure with theatre, cinema, art, hopes, desires, love and success in the end... Interesting group of people, individuals that formed my social life environment

Studies and travelling:

Studies at University of Lodz were to be the next stage of life’s experiences. I’ve chosen sociology not because of my will to get a great job afterwards but especially because of my internal will to be able to learn more about the society around and they way it has reshaped my identity throughout all those years on the planet Earth... Time of some good academic discussions, great parties with a group of friends, first faraway journey to work and experience USA in 2001 and terrifying memories of 9/11.
It was also a time of my great experience in India, where I had been working for half year in 2004 for an NGO in Chennai as an AIESEC trainee. Time full of discoveries, new friendships, surprises and truly affection by the culture and beauty of this country that I have tried to share after coming back with others: organizing Indian Movies show in the cinema and lecturing classes on Indian culture being a guest at my University

Belgium:

So far, the last stage of my path through life adventures have started in March 2005 when I have defended my thesis and received a title of Master of Arts in Sociology... as my student’s career was just about being over I took my last opportunity to go for another AIESEC traineeship... It was supposed to be either Ukraine or South Africa but finally it happened to be Belgium, Brussels and job at EUROPE DIRECT – outsourced information service of the European Commission for the EU citizens.
It’s been already more than one and half years here... With permanent contract and again since October 2006 as postgraduate student of European Studies I keep myself wondering... how long would that stage here last...? Would it convince me to stay, go back to Poland or maybe try my luck somewhere else...?
